hologram.world: My Month in Review Movies, Books and Shopping

I've been consuming movies with a vengeance. These are just a few of the ones we've watched, in addition to Hanna and the Help. Lauren and I also saw the Hunger Games and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel at the cinema as well. I think the only one I wasn't really interested in was Hanna, I'd be pretty happy to add the rest to my miserable (literally, sad movies all round) movie collection.

I also spent a little time doing some drawing, I wanted to practice drawing figures. But I got a little stuck see, while I think it's all well and good to be able to draw a figure from your head, it's probably more helpful to use a reference in any case, right? Still maybe if I practice some more, I'll be able to take a little more liberty style wise, though I quite like the curvy shapes above.

I also did some shopping. Just a little, if I don't my head pops. Lauren needed a few more dollars on an order for free shipping, so I bought these peacock earrings because they are so fabulously ridiculous. I think the heart pendant would have been a more sensible choice but really, peacock earrings. I also bought a few more copic ciao markers for sketching. I wanted some earthy colours for scenery and sketching. The calculator is actually and sort of old Swimmer cookie one I bought in Japan in Nagoya. Actually, I left it in my cousins shopping bag, and she only recently got it back to me, almost six months later. The tea are samples from T2 that I thought I could mix together to make something similar to the Sherlock Molly tea I saw around. I'm not sure if it will work but one can only try.

Lauren and I also did some clothes shopping. I was interested in finding a races and wedding worthy dress. I'm not sure it's typical for either occasion, but I'll probably wear it anyway. I wanted to coordinate it in a slightly unusual way. It is quite an unusual dress to begin with. But after trying it on, knowing it was the only one left and happened to be in my size (and then also turned out to be 30% off), there was no way it was NOT coming home with me. I paired it with my Angelic Pretty Wonder Story Bag, some cute beige tutuana socks, a fur collar from an old jacket and a gold and garnet necklace probably from Avon or somewhere and a ribbon headband from Diva.?

When we saw the Hunger Games the first time, we went to the midnight showing. We decided to go early, since most midnight showings are madness. No one else was there. We were second in the door, and waited three hours for maybe twenty other people. While we waited, my next door neighbour Rachael drew portraits of each of us as tributes. I asked for a cross bow. Rachael decided on my comment. It is something I say quite often.?
And in addition to watching films and so on I have been inhaling books. I flew through the Hunger Games series within a week and before that I made my way through Tales of the Otori. I picked the Last Unicorn up again, which I've been reading on and off for a year or so and I'm finally almost through it. It's incredibly slow. Next up is to the Scaffold, which is about Marie Antoinette, I figure if my step-mum liked it and we both enjoyed the Duchess that it should be a good read. I'm really into biographical stuff as I get older too.

That is pretty much everything that has been keeping me from sitting down to write. As well as this infernal gloom that's been hanging around lately. I just console myself with the idea that everyone needs some down time to appreciate the up time, so I guess this is it. It'd be nice if it could, you know, go away though. I've scheduled some posts for this week other than Happy Snaps, so that should be exciting.

Anyway, enjoy.
