Greenfield High School students pack up care packages for troops

GREENFIELD (WITI) ? It?s a way of saying ?thank you? to those serving overseas.? Students from Greenfield High School are showing they care with packages for the troops.

Box by box, bit by bit, students helped out in a big way.

?This obviously brings the morale up,? student Jaron Litza said.

The high school senior is part of the ROTC program.? He?s helping pack boxes with items for troops serving in Afghanistan.

The idea started with the ROTC, but quickly grew.? Every homeroom collected items for the soldiers.

?Let?s them know, hey we appreciate what you`re doing down range, keeping us safe here, by engaging the enemy overseas,? ROTC leader Lt. Col. Andrew Davis said.

Packages are filled with items like baby wipes, candy and letters.

?It`s nice to know we have this many? high schooler (students)?that are willing to help us out,? senior Abbi?Farrell said.??I`m sure it makes the soldiers feel just as good.?

The items are being sent to a unit from Plymouth, Wisconsin stationed in Afghanistan.? The students hope to expand the program and send packages more than once a year.
